Launceston, Tasmania (2 of 2)

Note: This is not a food-related post.
Day Two : Wineglass Bay

It was decided that day two of my weekend escape to Tasmania would be spent on a short trip to Wineglass Bay (an approximately of two and a half hour drive from the city). During this Wineglass trip, I got to befriend five Singaporeans who are currently studying in the University of Tasmania (UTAS). I was told by one of the staff in UTAS that Wineglass Bay is one of the world's top ten beaches.

It is a little amusing to me for I am not known as a person that would do something unexpectedly without giving it much thought. Perhaps I really wanted a weekend escape from the bustling city streets in Sydney.
I booked an air ticket to Launceston after an old classmate of mine, K, has briefly wrote on the messenger that I ought to go over to Tasmania for a visit. I guess I might have surprised him by saying 'Okay' instantly. However, it was a short 2D1N trip to Launceston as I had to work on the Sunday morning.

Sayonara!

Miss L is a busy person and therefore it is very hard to meet up with her. However, we had managed to get the same day off today to have lunch, together with Mister O.

Previously I had purchased an Aseana Food Village voucher and due to the fact that I'll be leaving Sydney soon, I had decided to dine there for the final time.

Recipe: White Chocolate Mousse with Strawberry Compote

Recently, I've become a reader of Table for two or more.. who I assume is an awesome cook just by reading at those posts or recipes that she writes (or shares) with us on her website.

The White Chocolate Mousse with Strawberry Compote that she had blogged in 2010 was already tempting enough for me to try it out. So, I hurriedly get hold of my iPhone and started noting down the ingredients required for the next day grocery shopping.

Picture from : Table for two or more..

White Chocolate Mousse with Strawberry Compote
50ml whipping cream
100gm quality white chocolate, broken to smaller pieces
½ tsp vanilla extract
2 egg yolks
2 egg whites
Pinch of cream of tartar
100ml whipping cream

Strawberry compote
150gm strawberries
½ Tbsp brown sugar
1 Tbsp brandy (optional)

The Method:
1. Put 50ml of whipping cream, vanilla and white chocolate into a heatproof bowl. Double boil until chocolate melts. Stirring it every once in a while when it is melting.
2. Let chocolate cool down for 2 minutes, then add in egg yolk and mix well. Let it cool down totally.
3. In a clean bowl, beat egg white and cream of tartar until stiff. Gently fold egg whites into chocolate mixture with a whisk.
4. In another bowl, whisk 100ml whipping cream until soft peaks. Fold into (3).
5. Spoon into 4 serving cups, cover and chill for a minimum of 3 hours or until time of serve.
6. While mousse is chilling, prepare strawberry compote. Combine strawberries, sugar and brandy in a small saucepan. On low heat cook strawberries until it starts to bleed. Remove compote from pan, put into a covered container and chill until time to serve.
7. Spoon strawberry compote on top of mousse before serving.

Comment: It tasted like meltingwhite chocolate ice cream with a strong vanilla flavor that makes it so yummy and sinfully indulgence!!
